A Patch of Blues is a unique blues and soul band started with the original members Fati Jones (vocals), Rebecca Egwuenu (lead guitar), Claudia Easterwood (bass), & Stacy Norris (drums). The members have been playing together from a young age and developed a love for the blues, their city's heritage, and playing music together under the mentorship of some of Chicago's great blues men and women. Each member is an accomplished musician and vocalist in her own right and decided to come together to bring a unique sound and urban funky flair to their audiences. While completing their college studies, POB has continued to play and develop their craft. The band has performed throughout the Chicagoland area and the Midwest in major festivals including the Chicago Blues festival as well as in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge in 2023 & 2024. Having a majority of female instrumentalists for a Blues band makes A Patch of Blues special. Female vocalists have always been the standard push with blues bands, often brushing aside the spirit, virtuosity, and innovative sounds of women musicians in the genre. In the past, we had Memphis Minnie, Rosetta Sharpe, Beverly "Guitar" Watson, drummers such as Pauline Braddy setting the stage on fire! A Patch of Blues aims to bring that fire back along side its power vocalist Fati! The band received a Chicago Music Award for Most Outstanding Band in 2024 and was nominated twice for an Intercontinental Music Award for instrumental excellence and soulful rendition of the Blues. Sam Jones joined the family in 2024 on bass. As a longtime friend and "Blues brother" for the ladies of the Patch, this was a natural fit for POB. They have performed at Buddy Guy's Legends and Rosa's some of their own local favorites. A Patch of Blues strongly believes in the power of music to unite and heal.
